Looking for LogMeIn replacement for remote support

I have put in the K1000 at my new company and wanted to implement a remote sport screen sharing solution like LogMeIn.  I used LMI in the past because I could create a custom invnetory rule in the K1000 to extract the computer ID number and feed that into a web url making it easy for the techs to connect to a computer on or off the WAN.

It has been several years since I have used LMI and I was aware of the fact that their prices have gone through the roof, but I was not prepared for the price to be $4-$12K pricetag.  I think the last time I was using it we were only paying about $999 for unlimited computers.  I can't justify paying as much for the remote control feature as I do for the K1000 and 2000 combined.

What option are others using that:

  • Allow techs to connect to a remote computer on or off the WAN as long as the remote computer can access the Internet
  • Allow techs to initiate the start of the remote app so users do not have to find it.
  • Minimize the end user interaction so they do not have to download or fire up the app.  Maybe just give the tech the passcode or click an Allow Access button

I have previously used the Meraki system manager that utilized uVNC that was somehow able to connect to computers at home or in a hotel.  Also the Panda System Manager had this ability as well.  This would be a great option, however I do not know how the uVNC connections to the tech system and the off site client were established.

  • In our organization we use TeamViewer for all systems, Desktops, Laptops and Mobile devices. We are mostly an android/ Windows organization and the ability to remote into mobile devices via Teamviewer has been very helpful for all of our techs. - MiguelT 6 years ago
  • Looks like the price is right for the Pro setup. Do you use the paid version or the free version? - JordanNolan 6 years ago
  • We are using Skype for Business. We're an Office365 campus, so all users have credentials to login with their work username and password. The screen sharing tools allow the user to give control to the technician. - chucksteel 6 years ago

The free version is for non-commercial use so one would hope that he's using the paid-for version.

I think GBP59.90/month is an absolute bargain. It sure makes LMI look waaaaaaaaaaaaay over-priced.
