Lotus Notes 8.0 1 -after installation not appearing in ARP
Hi Experts,
I have packaged Lotus Notes 8.0.1 (multi user) package .
When doing a fresh installation , installation goes fine and application works fine
But it is not appearing in ARP panel and I am not able to repair or uninstall the app even thru command line by using its product code - error says "it is valid only for installed product"
Installation Log says it is completed success , eventviewer says it is sucesss
ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT is set to 0.
I checked HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\UNINSTALL keys , my product is present .
Even I checked whether product is registerd by checking in regsitry key below and my product is there
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products
When I upgrade the same pacakage which developed from 6.0.2 to 8.0.1 , ARP entry is PRESENT and i am able to uninstall as well
when I installed Vendor MSI ARP entry is coming an i am able to uninstall ..
I am doing all the installation in SYSTEM CONTEXT
Please help me solve this starnge problem !!

What platform are you packaging for? If it's terminal server / Citrix make sure you have done change user /install before installation.
If it's XP then I'm not sure.. have you tried F5 ? (joke)
Is it captured? Sounds like a vendor package - if so and you install from the original CD - does it appear in ARP?

If I remember correct you need to remove the ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT property.
From command line that would be: msiexec /i package.msi ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=""

its for XP .. i have tried F5 :)
Original vendor msi is installing fine and ARP entry is coming .
even my packaged transform is creating ARP entry when upgrading from 6.0.2.
butr when i do a fresh install , ARPentry is not coming
any clues ??

Have you REMOVED the ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT property in your transform? Setting it to '0' is no good, it has to be completely removed. Are you sure your transform is being applied i.e. have you logged the install and checked?

There is no ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT in my MST now ..
still it is not appearing in ARP entry !!!
for testing i just added it and made it to 0 befoer and tried ..still the result was same .
In the Log file MST is applied ..
Starnge fact is that ..during upgrading ARP entry is appearing ..only during fresh installation it is not coming .

Please let me know if you have any solution for this. It is a bit urgent. The issue seems to be strange.

Use a verbose log for both install types and compare them. There has to be something happening - maybe a Custom Action? - in a plain install which doesn't happen during an upgrade.

thank god ..it is settled ..thanks to everybody..
actually installation was running in UI sequence ..and I have supprseed the Installwelcome action and it had some condtional arguments it seems
when i run in /qb mode ..arp entry came
