Managed Install and User Downloads
Hello,
I have a managed install (currently disabled) and I want to push it as a user download. I am aware that MI's are triggered by an inventory and we have everything set to a day so I am looking at how I can use the MI to only fire when the user goes and initiates it from the user download?
Is this even possible?

Do not add any label to the MI itself, so it will not be triggered.
But for user downloads you need to enable it and when a user is starting it as user download it can run "on demand".

OK so I understand
On the MI - No label so nothing triggers it but leave it enabled and set to execute anytime
On the User Download set the MI and configure the labels and enable
I have also noticed something else too I can trigger a default install on software from within a user download would this also work if I selected that and added a /norestart switch in the additional parameters? And still show the user something on screen?

yes. You simply trigger the MI from the user console with all settings it has. It shows that it downloads and when it starts the usual popups if enabled. If you don't use any popups nothing is seen. - Nico_K 3 years ago
