Managed silent install of Arc GIS 10.7.1

I am trying to install Arc GIS through Kace with a managed silent install. I went to their site and used the parameters listed.
setup.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL ESRI_LICENSE_HOST=arclicense.server.edu SOFTWARE_CLASS=Professional SEAT_PREFERENCE=Float DESKTOP_CONFIG=TRUE INSTALLDIR1=C:\python27 /qb
I have a zip file uploaded for the associated file.
I just started using Kace so I am a newb. I have successes with some smaller packages.

So create a zip file, using a proprietary zip product such as winzip, not windows zip. Keep the directory structure as per the installation files and make sure the zip file is named with a .zip extension.
Attach your zip file to the software inventory item that appears in your inventory record when the software is installed.
Create the Managed Installation, override the default command and use the silent installation command that you got from the manufacturer.
KACE should download and unpack the zip in a temp directory, then run the command, so you may also want to tick the box in the managed installation that removes the installation files once complete

Why do you suggest not using Windows Zip? I found both 7Zip and Windows build in zip both function with KACE packages (compression and additional options are better for sure in 7Zip). - mtatro 3 years ago

I was using the Windows zip function for this and changed to winzip. Now it works. I didn't change anything else. - Tom-DRI 3 years ago

Oh ok I just commented on this, but it was likely due to your zip really containing a folder that then contained your setup files. (i.e. path would have been ___\setup.exe instead of setup.exe when extracted). - mtatro 3 years ago

There are some known issues with very large zip files created by the Windows implementation. I normally don't see any issues with files smaller than 2GB, but anything larger tends to have problems being decompressed by the client. - chucksteel 3 years ago
You'll probably want to add verbose logging to that command line or, better yet, use the MSI that gets extracted directly.
Setup.exe /qb!- /norestart ESRI_LICENSE_HOST=licenseserver SOFTWARE_CLASS=Professional SEAT_PREFERENCE=Float DESKTOP_CONFIG=TRUE ENABLEEUEI=0
One thing to always watch out for is if you compress the files needed (setup and folder), then be sure it's at the root of the zip, and that your zip does not contain them in a sub directory since your command is referencing only the root. - mtatro 3 years ago
