K1000 MI runs while user logged in, but not while logged out/after-login
I am trying to run a managed install (packaged Internet Explorer 10 install) while users are logged out, but I am not having any success. The install works when I select 'execute anytime' and runs while the user is logged in. I looked through the debugs and couldn't find any error messages, but I may be looking in the wrong place. Checked event log as well, nothing seems to be even trying to kick off.
I've read some other posts where some installs won't run under SYSTEM account, but that is the account the install runs under while the user is logged in (according to task manager).
I have a feeling I am looking in the wrong place(s) for the debug info. I've looked at kdeploy.log also, and I don't see where this particular install event is firing.

Can you post the details of your managed install configuration? I have a managed install of IE 10 that is set to run when the user is not logged in, so I know its possible. - chucksteel 10 years ago

Hey Chucksteel, Late yesterday, I was able to get ahold of dell-kace support and the tech was able to get it working. The strange thing was that he didn't change anything in my setup. He felt that what was happening was that the check-ins have to happen twice, while logged off, before the install will kick-off. Since my check-ins are set at the default (2hrs), and I only forced check-in once, he thought that it just never tried installing. - ntshane 10 years ago

This issue appears to be caused by a lack of patience on my part. Once dell-kace support forced a check in twice (while user was logged off), the install fired. I was advised to make the check-in interval shorter (default is 2hrs).

You can also cheat, when we want to update for a critical change
1. Set up the script or MI
2. Go to the computer pages and do one page at a time and force checkin so they update.

There is also a built-in "Force Check-In" script that can be run on multiple systems. It's recommended to run on 50 or less systems at one time. - jknox 10 years ago
