MSI API programming

Greetings all!

I have recently had some GREAT success in programming the modification of values in MSI files using the MSI API in MSI.dll.

Mostly I am using these functions: MsiOpenDatabase, MsiDatabaseOpenView, MsiViewExecute, etc.

I'm writing a little QA tool to so I can batch process MSI files to check for values that should be there as part of our company's standards.

However, while I can generate a transform, I don't know how to actually edit a transform like I am an MSI.

Has anyone worked with these API calls?

If so, has anyone had success in editting MSTs?

Thanks in advance,

- Sean Roberts

Hi Sean,

There's a script called "WiGenXfm.vbs" in the SDK that demonstrates the use of MsiDatabaseGenerateTransform.

Hope this helps.
