This is possible by using a vbscript as shortcut were you have the stop service control for DA service and then call the Juniper application. You can also chain another script to check every once in a while if Juniper executable is running and start the DA service if not foud in the process. The only question here is if the user has the permission to stop and stop that DA service.

  • No user don't have permission to do that..

    thanks for the reply

i was thinking to create a service that regular checks if the juniper.exe is running or not.
set flag=0 if the juniper.exe is running
else set flag=1 and set DA service= disable..

can't exactly picture how to execute this without any fuss - pradeepNINJA 9 years ago
  • Also if the user closes juniper.exe DA service start back on... vbscript shortcut wont solve this issue - pradeepNINJA 9 years ago

Have you thought to speak with the app vendor to see if they have a fix for this issue?  Does the vendor have any user forums where you can ask the same question as above, in case the vendor does not have a fix ?

If no solution this way, the Winbatch program is ideal for writing services that can do this kind of task. However, it is not a cheap solution although IMHO it is worth the expenditure to have such a powerful scripting environment available to you.  No doubt something similar could be crafted using the Express editions of the Visual Studio tools, which are free, if you have the necessary coding experience.
If you are running on Windows 7 or later, do bear in mind that the user runs at a different level to the operating system so service level activity cannot easily interact with the user desktop without now using named pipes or some other similar inter process communication solution.

  • Wow thanks man .. i believe nobody would allow to buy such an expensive tool for one issue only.
I can put Logic together for coding but need time to execute as i haven't done some in a long time.
Yes we are using Window 7 machines. will post soon i came up with a raw code - pradeepNINJA 9 years ago
