office installation to xp
I am new to deploying software installations via Kbox but i have a office wide move to Office 2010. I have gleamed from this forum and from the notes on 2010 specifically the following:
I use the OCT to create an MSP file with all my customizations, leave the MSP file in the root and zip everything in the folder. I "manually configure" kbox to open the zip file and run the setup.exe with the /adminfile pointing to my MSP file in the root. I also added the activation line to run in post installation.
Now i have successfully run the installer over the network before zipping it for kbox and it did great for a silent install. It uninstalled the current install of office without any problems and installed 2010 activated. When I run the distribution through kbox it prompts me to upgrade from 2007 instead of silently uninstalling as it had done previously in an over the network installation. I am not sure why it is not using the MSP file even though i am specifically calling it in my command line.

I don't know kbox specifically, but are you passing the full path to the MSP (and config) in the commandline? I'm guessing, if kbox unpacks the files locally before installing, this would have to be dynamically set in the install script...

If your Custom.msp is inserted into the Updates folder of your extracted Office install. You do not need to point to your Custom.MSP
Running setup.exe without switches should be silent if you have modified the MSP to be completely silent.
If you place your Custom.msp in a directory other than the Updates folder you will need to correctly map to that directory of the local PC if KACE copies locally first than launches the install.
I would recommend making sure your Custom.msp is in the Updates folder.
