Oracle 11 Installer - check for previous installations

Hey guys,

Working on Oracle 11 atm, and I thought it was going ok (silly me). However, in testing an Install-Uninstall-Install scenario, I'm running into trouble. Since at time of uninstall the Oracle folder is not completely removed (there are some locked files in it), when I restart the installation it complains there's already an installation in the target folder.

Do any of you know a way to either bypass the check entirely, or can you say what the exact check is that is done (hoping it's not actually about folder presence..)

PJ

Answer Summary:
I ended up combining the use of the -force flag and removing the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\inst_loc. This did the trick.

  • already did that, I am actually pretty sure it's the folder's presence. But like I stated below, the -force parameter might come to the rescue. Fingers crossed... - pjgeutjens 12 years ago
  • Any Luck with using the -force parameter? - Spef 12 years ago
