Post Installation Task to Disable Windows Updates fails - k2000

Have a pretty simple post installation, a bat script that runs the following-

sc config wuauserv start= disabled
sc config BITS start= demand
sc stop wuauserv
sc stop BITS

It worked successfully until we upgraded (?) to KACE k2000 v3.7.  Actually worked a handful of times after upgrade, now fails consistently on every machine we deploy, the error 1, Unknown Error.  I've tried running the commands from a batch file, still get the same result.  I've even run the K2 advisor and this is one of the tasks that doesn't appear as needing remediation but nothing I've tried has been able to get this to run?  Any suggestions, examples?

  • Are you auto logging the machine in prior to running this task? - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
  • Yes. - g1knj99 9 years ago
    • if these are 64bit machines try calling sc.exe with the full path to see if it is sysnative call problem. if that does not work you can also do a reg.exe and change the services state that way. let me know what happens when you use c:\windows\system32\sc ... - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
  • I'll try that next, thanks. - g1knj99 9 years ago
  • What I did was stop the services first then change the config. Give that a shot maybe it will work? - carminus 9 years ago
