Problem to add MSI to GPO Software Installation.

Usually it works fine to add a msi to a group policy.

Software Installation - New - Package
Choose msi - Open

Deploy Software, then choose Assigned or Advanced.

But with this one vendor msi, I mark the msi and click Open, then the Deploy Software window comes up.
When I choose Advanced and click OK the msi installation starts and the InstallShield Wizard comes up!

I only have seen this problem with this particular vendor msi.

Anybody have any ideas?

It does the same thing, on both Assigned and Advanced.
But now the problem is solved.

I simply had to make a vb script to install and deploy the app with.

  • I realize you have found a workaround, but is the software publicly available? Since you did not disclose the name in the original post I was just curious to see if it did the same on my machine. - M P 11 years ago

Does it do the same thing if you keep it as Assigned software instead of choosing Advanced?
