RE. UNIQUEID
how can i change the UNIQUEID of a bootable drive - and still have it bootable.
I imaged my main drive to another internal drive for recovery/backup purposes. The new drive has the same UNIQUEID now so it is not accessible. If I change the ID it becomes accessible BUT non-bootable because it cannot find the device. What else do I need to change to preserve the booting??

Why don't you use "create a system image" under control panel, backup and restore. I use this on my image masters and it creates an image in minutes that can be restored via the W7 boot disk. I have multiple backup images that I choose to restore from on my second disk depending what master I need to work with. I rename the WindowsImageBackup directory by appending info to the end of the name to help me know what image is which and rename the needed one back to WindowsImageBackup prior to booting to the install disk and doing a restore.
