Remove advirtesment from a single component.

To remove advirtesment from shortcuts is straight forward and simple.

But now I want to remove advirtesment from a single component, in my existing msi. I.e I want to
put in the file into the component, so that it is put in the destination source during installation.

I can do that, but how do I get rid of the Advertising flag inside the component?

Anyone that can help me? I´m using WPS 7.

please explain the first 2 lines of your question a littlebit better... no clue what you mean... but I guess it's about advertised Shortcuts?

Advertising is only possible when you have a keyfile in your component which also contains the exe and shortcut.

So if you do not want to use an advertised shortcut then just get rid of the keyfile in the component table.

  • My question is not about shortcuts. To remove Advertisment from a shortcut, you just
have to uncheck the box named "Advertised". In general.

No, my question is how to remove the attribute Advirtised from a component.

If you look in the Components tab, in Setup Editor, there´s a attribute Advertised. I can add a file, in to the component. But I´m asking how to remove the advertisment flag. - RiterX 11 years ago

Advertised entry points (advertised shortcuts, COM info, file extensions, etc) are used to initiate the self-repair process so removing your advertising will mean that if your file goes missing for some reason, it will not automatically get repaired.

  • Yes of course. But my question is not about entry points. See above. - RiterX 11 years ago
