Reporting / Tracking Changing Asset Names

I am using a K1000 and I wondering what is the best practice to track hostnames of assets. For instance, if I had a system called IT-TEST-1 and then was renamed to IT-TEST-4, is there an easy way to configure KACE to track these changes and also to view this through the GUI.
I have used lansweeper in the past, and this was a task that I did quite often. https://www.lansweeper.com/kb/87/windows-rename-detection.html

I am assuming that you are referring to devices in this question i.e. things with a KACE agent installed?
The link between inventory and asset is key in this case, and it is found in the Device asset type.
The default setting will take the inventory device name and create the asset using that name, this may result in the connection being broken if you rebuild and rename the device.
We recommend that customers set the Device Asset type link to take the Inventory device serial number and use that as the asset name, that way if the device changes name the link is maintained and the change of name is recorded within the asset record.
If that method creates Assets that have names not aesthetically pleasing to the eye, then add a field into the device asset type of Serial number and link Inventory to Asset on that field.
If you are talking about non Device assets, changing the asset name simply registers as a change in the asset history
