Running into an error trying to install APP V application from network location.

Hello All,

I am trying to install an APP-V.msi from network location and running into errors like:

" The provided URL could not be resolved. Please check that the URL is valid."

and once click ok, then it runs into the following:

"Failed to remove the package due to the following error: Unrecognized Guid format"

Once copied locally, this installs just fine.  Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

AK

  • How exactly are you running the install? Is it via a local system account? If so, bear in mind that a local system account cannot access a network location as it does not have a domain identity. - EdT 9 years ago
  • Running it as Admin. - 786_ak 9 years ago

What is the command line you have used?

Comments:
  • msiexec /i %~dp0appv.msi /qb! - 786_ak 9 years ago
    • can you try it with "" double quote

      msiexec /i "%~dp0appv.msi" /qb! - jagadeish 9 years ago
      • That didn't help. - 786_ak 9 years ago

The App-V client uses the system account to run the load commands, and unless you have the share set up as a null session share it won't be able to access it.
