SCCM + AD to create full OU / Collection Tree

Hi I suppose it’s a simple question but I'm sure it won’t have a simple answer so I will try and be as detailed as possible.

SCCM and all its tools have been newly integrated on my clients site , It has over 8000 users and 7500 Computer/Laptops.

We are about to rollout wins 7 to the business using the AD’s OU groups one at a time. These are broken down by Area – Site – user group etc

There’s a lot of Oganise / security groups etc as you can imagine.

What I would “like” to do, is somehow export the AD OU hierarchy and recreate that as a Collection Tree in SCCM . I can create the queries afterwards as I go through the collection. So in other works my Collection Tree is Identical ( As far as it can be) less of course users, which I would somehow like to filter out of the Collection creation process.

Is this possible?

If it’s not, I would have to do it manually and that could takes weeks L

Hi SMAL.tmcc, thanks for the links, I have been to most of them but they dont solve the problem I have. I have already installed the AD connector and can run queries against it when setting up Collections, I was just hoping there was a tool or something so i could import the AD "Structure" rather than the objects and create the Collections Tree from it. I dont think its possible , but might be in some later incarnation of SCCM

you will probably have to write a script to do it. I do not have the script, but I am sure it can be done through VB or Poweshell script.
