SCCM Removes Drivers

Currently we have an image for each model PC we have (until I get the master working).

On a couple of the models, the video and/or wireless intel proset drivers are uninstalled and we have to reinstall these drivesr after a system is imaged.  Just curious why this was and if there was a way to not have the image remove any of the drivers.

thanks

you can cheat and place the needed files in a sub dir under c:\windows\inf on your master and even if it deletes them it will then rediscover those.  you can put all your models together in one master this way also.

  • That would be all well and good, but this wont install the full Intel Proset drivers. The intel wireless requires to run an EXE file to install all components needed. Wouldnt be to bad if all we needed is the wireless driver, but got to have the proset connection utility as well. - anonymous_85746 11 years ago
    • I was able to start the install on a system and harvest the file from my temp directory and place those there also.
an other idea I have on that is to put the install in the image and modify the registries runonce line to run the installer silently.
do not know if you can poke this prior to sysprep or have to add it to your answer file as a run synchronous command.

      reg.exe add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" /v installnic /d "c:\nic\nic.exe /switches" - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago
  • That would be great, but I plan on having a master image to cover all laptops/desktops. So I really do not want the proset drivers to be installed on all models. Good idea tho for the common drivers/apps so I will keep that in mind. - anonymous_85746 11 years ago
