Script for turning UAC on and off

Hello,

K1000 newbie here. Is it possible to turn UAC on and off via scripting through the K1000? I have around 50 Windows 7 systems, which need a software update. These particular updates mandate UAC be turned off (to include system reboot) before the installation, then UAC be turned back on (to include system reboot). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you can set the registry key to turn UAC off or on

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

EnableLUA  set dword to 0 to turn off or 1 to turn on, then reboot to take effect

I am with EdT on this..

I would wager that the supplier has had a lot of issues with 'simple people' not understanding UAC.
If you're using Kace, it should handle UAC, so just try sending it out to one machine first.

Good luck

If you are deploying using the system account that the K1000 uses, there is no need to do anything with UAC, as there is no user profile associated with the local system account, and the installation takes place with elevated privileges anyway.
