Check if your packaged application is putting some entry in Active Setup registry, or Run/RunOnce registry.

Are these shortcuts advertised?

Also check windows installer log.

Maybe some service is getting started during reboot. Please check. Also check any application related tasks are running after reboot.

Is it a driver based application. Or are there any services in your application. If any of this is there, then it is fine to ask your users to reboot the machine after installtion.

Could also be Regsvr32 needs to run to register some dll's for the program to run properly and the restart does that

Did you launch your source's shortcut as standard user?

  • Did you restart the machine before running post captured during setup capture process? - jagadeish 11 years ago
  • I guess you have installed your source as an Administrator and lunched the shortcut and concluded that your source doesn't require any reboot.. (It is just a guess only)..

After installing source, just log-off and log-in as standard user and launch the shortcut...
    If it not launching then
    reboot the machine
    check the same..
If it is launching now then
You may have some run/runonce registry key in the source...

I would recommend you to reboot the machine before clicking post capture during setup capture - jagadeish 11 years ago
