Skype 4.2

Hello all,
I am doing an .msi transform with skype 4.2 and i'm just wondering what the registry changes would be to turn off
"sign me in when Skype Starts" and
"Start Skype when computer starts"

we would prefer these selections be off so that it does not slow down the computers during start up.

Thank you!

Use a lightweight snapshot tool (e.g. InstallWatch) and take a 'Before' snapshot. Make the changes, then take an 'After' snapshot. Transplant the relevant changes to a transform file which you can then apply to the MSI.

Hi Huntercash,

First of all, make sure that you are using the business version of Skype downloadable from here:

http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windows/business/

Then have a read of the following document. It's a little old but it should give you an idea which registry keys you should be adding to your MST file.

Hi folks,
about the business version: The only difference as i can tell, is the lack of the plugins for IE/Firefox.
The MSI of the public version lies in the temp folder during the installation, as expected.
All the settings can be looked up in the ADM template (See package KB for the link).
Both MSI have a set of built in Transforms (as substorages).
@ Hunter: One of them ,"RemoveStartup.mst" does exact what you need.
Call it like this: msiexec /i Skype.msi TRANSFORMS=:RemoveStartup.mst
But be aware, that this MSI has no functionality built in, to deploy this settings to all user profiles on a machine.

Hi all,
I have problems with replacing older versions of Skype. I am using the msi-file from the business-pages, and when running it, it replaces 3.x versions of Skype, but not 4.1 (msi error 1638). I made a transform, changing the Upgrade table's UpgradeCode {33DAAA36-4A9F-470E-8049-9B964C898FA4}
from 768 to 769, which in theory should detect major and minor version, detect products and applications, and then migrates feature states, uninstalling the old version and install 4.2. Still, it doesn't work, has anyone else run into this problem?
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
