Software Library (K1000) installation not resuming download?

I just recently instricted a user to use the Software Library to install a program via the K1000 user portal. During download of this package his computer went into sleep mode.

When he woke it up I saw that the download had stopped and was not resuming until he clicked the "install now" button again. Is this working as intended or should the download resume by itself?

Downloading large packages over unstable internet connections for example would not work if the download does not resume automaticly.

Please enlighten me!

Regards

Johan

I wonder if that would be more the installer? Have you tried installing it without the Kbox and letting it sleep? It would depend on what all your installer was doing, and what point it went to sleep.

  • It was the actuall download that was interrupted and not resumed. Not the installation itself. - connectsto 11 years ago

It definitely should try to resume, or at the very least automatically start downloading/installing again.  It could be a bug though for the usage path of installing via the Software Library.  I know that using Managed Installs or for the assets attached to scripts that those are attempted until successfully completed. You might try searching the KACE FAQ and/or support portal to see if the issue you describe is already documented. If not, don't hesitate to report it - otherwise KACE may not even be aware of it.

Software Library installations are just like using an online script and the "Run Now" functionality in scripting.  Once the task has completed, erred out, or has been interrupted that task is over, it will not restart by itself.

And when i said "just like" I meant literally it is the same, you can go to "Run Now Status" under scripting and see the requests to install software from the  Software Library made by end users.

  • To clearify, if a user via the Software library choose to install a software it's best to make sure you have a stable connection? If the download is interrupted for some reason, they have to start it again manually? - connectsto 11 years ago
