SQL Server 2008R2sp2, does anyone know the parameter for a .ini file to set "SQL Server Browser" service to log on as "LocalSystem"?

SQL Server 2008R2sp2, does anyone know the parameter for a .ini file to set "SQL Server Browser" service to log on as "LocalSystem"?

For example...

SQLSVCAccount= "NT Authority\system"

...what would I use for the "SQL Server Browser"? I can't seem to find this anywhere.

I think that SQL 2008 creates a 'ConfigurationFile.ini' based on the choices you make in the installer GUI. Assuming you can make this setting in the GUI then you can read it from the configuration ini to see the syntax used.

Edit: Like the information on this site shows.

  • That is correct I did generate the config. file with most of what I need however, I could not modify the browser account to local system within the installation. - 56kGhost 9 years ago

It's been a while since I did an SQL 2008R2 - but this walkthrough I've found for R2 SP1 shows a 'Service Accounts' tab, where you can configure the SQL Server Browser account (search for 'On the Disk Space Requirements Screen just click Next' to jump to the image).

Is the option no longer availabe in SP2?

  • I tested it and yes it is sort of possible, except for the SQL Server browser you can't set as localsystem from there. You can only seem to set it as local system after the install. Thanks though. - 56kGhost 9 years ago
