System error 53 when mounting kbox install

I have the new OptiPlex 5050 on our network.

I just created a new win10 kbe for win 10 deployment.

The problem I have with this model is that the kbe will

mount the first 2 or 3 times for testing of win 10 and other

software.......but after that it just give me a ...

"Mounting the KBOX install shares

System error 53 has occurred"

The only solution I have found is to rebuild the kbe,

which will get it to work a couple of times......then poof!!

Any idea why it work a few times and then stop working?

The win10 kbe must be fine coz all other models can mount it fine.

  • We will be testing a 5050 in our environment soon. I am curious to see our results. - jboling 6 years ago
  • I am having this exact problem except the machine I'm testing with is a Panasonic FZ-G1 tablet PC with one USB port. There is no on-screen keyboard access or a free port for an external keyboard. Additionally, It seems when this happens I cannot restart the server because others are using it.

How do I remediate this problem when it appears?

at this step press <CTRL>-<C> and you can start to analyze.
The first and obvious is:
ping SDA (IP and DNS name)
if this fails:
ipconfig /all to see if the DHCP gave an IP.
if ok, check the DNS settings
if no IP:
1. Download the network driver for the 5050.
2. Copy it to \\SDA\drivers\kbe_x64 (or x86 depending on the OS you want to install)
3. verify that only the latest driver package from quest ist installed and if not, remove the older ones
4. Recache all drivers
5. rebuild the KBE

  • Same problem as OP. I have all drivers working, ping works, dns checks out. If I type in startnet.cmd and hit enter, it will redo the same process and then it will work. Any idea? - msuski 6 years ago
    • I was able to resolve by restarting my k2000 server. - msuski 6 years ago
