K1000: Targeted Machines not Appearing in the Installation Status box of a Managed Installation

I’m creating a Managed Install (MI) of a Dell Client Configuration Toolkit exe file. This is to apply various BIOS settings required for my environment.

I created a new Inventory-> Software item, associated the literal file with it, and entered in any other relevant information.

The KBox even uploaded the file to itself, as expected.

When I go to create the actual MI I am able to complete it all. The Software item I just created is listed in the Software: dropdown menu of the MI creation screen.

The command is "multiplatform_11_Oct_2013.exe"

Don't prepend msiexec.exe - Checked

Managed Action: Execute Anytime

Limit Deployment to Listed Machines: MyComputer

Deploy Order: 10

Max Attempts: 3

Deploy Window: 0000 - 2359 (All Day)

Any other item not listed contains no entry.

I click save, and then open the MI again. The window at the very bottom of the MI screen usually lists all the machines that will receive this MI. In this case MyComputer is NOT listed.

I did this same process with a Dell BIOS update 2.6.6 for OptiPlex 745 machines. The intended target machines had their BIOS updated with no problem at all.

Is there a problem with creating new software inventory items? Does Kace not like the CCTK executable I want it to use? Now that I am looking more at it I notice the software item I created is not listed in the Inventory->Software section.

The main problem I am having is that my list of intended target machines is showing zero when in other managed installs, dell updates, etc., the intended taret machines are in fact listed.

Thank you in advance.

Maybe check at the top to see what Oerating Systems it will install on. I had that problem before where I checked Windows 7 x64, but not Windows 7 x64 SP1.

  • All I needed was a second pair of eyes...well maybe a second pair of wiser eyes. That was it. That was the answer.
