To WOW6432 or not to? In regards to Active Setup

Nice and easy! What are peoples thoughts on this?

X64 operating system.

Making a package for an Outlook Addon, Office is x86 as per MS recommened. Addon is x86. So should put the Active Setup in the X86 path? Or the x64 WOW6432 path?

Im thinking X86 as it keeps the whole package X86 standard, not mixed and match if you get what I mean.

Cheers for ya thoughts, Riley.

  • When you look at the registy of a x64 System you will notice that there are some keys in there called Wow6432Node. These keys are there for 32-bit applications.
Basically if you have a 32-bit application that is reading from the registry in the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\<company>\<product>â€
it is actually reading from “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\<company>\<product>â€. - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago
  • Ahh, got ya now. I had some confusion over the Wow6432Node and its function, but the dull light bulb has turned on now (: Cheers SMal. - rileyz 11 years ago
