Scripting Question

Troubleshooting KACE Agent Connectivity

09/26/2013 9943 views

Here is the problem:

We have about 300 out of 2500 machines that are inventoried, but haven't connected in a while.

What I need:

I need to be able to easily troubleshoot the issue and provide the solution remotely. I would think that there is a script of some sort that I could run to automatically troubleshoot it to a point. My normal issue is users with laptops that KACE doesn't reconnect easily and has KUID issues...

Does anyone already have a flowchart of sorts that outlines the methods to make sure your PCs are staying connected to KACE?

  • The only thing I know of is here: http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/troubleshooting-agents-that-are-not-checking-in-inventory

Other than making sure UAC is off, I don't know if there is gonna be much more.
    • UAC only has to be off during provisioning. Past that, the article is a good place to start.
  • how about uninstalling the questioned agents and redeploy them? Support can give you a little tool to uninstall many not connected agents (useful if you have muliple installations of the agents)
    • What is this tool you speak of? I think that may be the ticket...
  • What does UAC do to the AGents? Is there a work around? I don't want to disable UAC.
    • UAC only concerns provisioning generally. It should have no affect on connectivity.

Run through and document the troubleshooting here as much as possible:  http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/troubleshooting-agents-that-are-not-checking-in-inventory

If you don't see a solution to the issue, submit a support ticket and document what you have already tried.  Also enable debug on an affected system, restart it and/or force a check in and get the agent logs: http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/solutiondetail?sol=SOL112035
