Update Google Chrome/ Mozilla Firefox home page by scripting

Good morning everyone,

I would like to know if is possible to send a script or some configuration to change the Chrome's home page. We have some computers in your company that they are not in your country and they are not in your AD. So I thought that changing by script using Kace could be a good idea. Is it possible? I need to change Firefox too, but Chrome is totally necessary.

Be aware I'm not a KACE user.

The best method is to use GPO to apply the setting, this is assuming you  have access to the computer objects in AD. For Chrome, the GPO pack will apply the consumer and enterprise version. For Firefox, you need the enterprise version (ESR  or Rapid release) - it will not work with the consumer version I recall from my work from a year ago, worth a check though.

If don't have access to GPO/AD, then the next option is to write the GPO keys yourself.  Its not the best option, but it will do the job.

Use the GPO pack to apply the changes yourself to a test computer, then export the registry settings. Next, use KACE to import the keys onto the target computers. This of course requires the computer to have the correct version of Firefox, as mention no need to worry about Chrome as it will apply to either version.

Check out this link to shoehorn the ADMX onto a non-domain computer, so you can create/test the GPO for the above method.

Yes you can.  We did this in the past.  You can do it for both Firefox and Google Chrome.  I have added the link for Chrome here.

It can be done easier and faster in AD though if you ever have the need for that.
