Web based application Repackaging
Hi All,
Just wanted to check the best way to go about repackaging of web based application.
Well for web based application(as there is no media for installation) if there are some settings which needs to modified in the internet explorer,what is the best way to do the same.
i.e Should we capture these IE settings changes and make an msi out of it etc
I am looking for best practise which we can follow for thses kind of applications.

There are very few web applications that require you to make any changes to your web browser settings (and if they do then I would say that is a fairly badly designed web app). The only exception really would be if the web browser requires a specific plug in (flash for example) - in which case you need to install that correctly and it is nothing to do with web browser settings.
Is there anything in particular you are thinking of that you need to change when using a specific web app or is this just a general question?

I have come across few applications for which apart from the Flash and silverlight application we need to make few changes in the web browser settings.
Was just checking what is the best approach to handle these?
Whether we can go ahead capture the settings and make a msi our of these browser settings or there are some other ways to deal with it.

A web application has, almost by defintion, no business messing with the user's browser settings.
What settings are you thinking of? I'm trying hard to think of a single one which I would allow an application to change.
