What can be done about K1000 agent using high amounts of CPU on client computers?

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping that somebody can provide advice on how to resolve this issue. We are using the K1000, Version: 8.1.108. The client computers are running version 8.1.52 of the agent. Many computers are showing high cpu usage in the morning from "XML Scan Engine." I assume that when the computer comes back online in the AM, the kace agent would scan the computer and update the inventory on the server. Not all computers are having this issue.

The computers are all Dell and they all have Windows 10 version 1607 (64-bit). I have tried to reinstall the agent on some of these computers but that did not help. I can wait for a new version of the agent to be released. I was just wondering if anybody else has seen this issue since there are no similar posts about this yet.

Hi,

You might want to move out of 1607 before April:

In regards the issue , XML Scan Engine starts when a Detection Process starts (Security > Patch Management > Schedules), the detection process can be CPU intensive, if this is an issue try to schedule patches when it will have the least effect on the devices.... (also you don't really need to detect every single day)

Also if your Antivirus are not properly white-listed for KACE agent folders, they may audit that process and make it go slower than usual, see:
