What fields (in Search/Labels) match what data?

I don't even know how to ask this question ....

When doing an Advanced Search (or building a Smart Label), you have the pull-down menu with such things as "Agent Connection Time" and "Software Titles", etc.

How do we know what the data looks like in these categories; what database table/element does each item correspond to?

For example, if I select "Printers", how do I ascertain what the data in this category looks like? Does it look like "Printer 1", or does it look like "HP Laserjet 5xn", or does it look like" 5 printers are installed on this machine" or does it look like "Yes", or what?

Surely there's some way of finding out what the data looks like in all these various categories?

Thanks!

/Kent

Most of the advanced search fields correspond to those found on the inventory detail page, so use that information as your reference.

As for determining which database tables contain which data, that is much more complicated and there isn't a reference guide available, unfortunately.

Comments:
  • I do not find that to be the case. For example, there is no Advanced Search field called "Installed Programs"; nor is there a field called "Operating System" or "Operating System Version" or "Operating System Architecture", etc. Sometimes you can sort of guess between an inventory detail item and an Advanced Search field ("Name" under the "Operating System Info" heading in the Advanced Search pull-down *probably* corresponds to "Operating System / Name" in the device inventory detail page, but in what format?).

What I conclude is that these fields are not "discoverable", but can only be "discovered" via numerous blind trial-and-error experiments. - kentwest 4 years ago
