What happens to Service Desk tickets when changing "Mapped Inventory Field" within Asset Type settings?

I'm trying to make changes to the way Inventory Computer entries are mapped to use Dell Serial Tag (aka Serial BIOS Number) vice the default (System Name) to prevent duplicate Asset entries. My main concern is email notifications being sent to end-users about a change made to an existing ticket (opened/closed) and causing tickets to repopen. A custom rule has already been created to prevent emails from being triggered when a Machine or User is deleted. Is there a custom rule for making sure no emails are triggered when making changes to the Asset field.

Thanks,

WC

I don't think that is an issue. You are only changing the mapping between Assets and Inventory to prevent those duplicates. It really shouldn't affect the tickets in anyway.
