msiexec.exe /i "ECDC5B.msi" TRANSFORMS="1033.mst" REBOOT=REALLYSUPRESS /qr

The 1033.mst file is for the English language. These .mst files are defined in the setup.ini file.

note: According to the forums at Roxio.com the /qr can work better at correctly finding some newer CDRW drives.

Silent install of update, originally posted by foleys@egr.msu.edu

Here is what I found after A LOT of trial and error:

There are two options to silently installing the update:

1. If you are installing Roxio and applying the update at the same time, you can just copy the CD to a server and create a directory named Update in the root of the Roxio directory. Then put the update file into that directory, and rename it to update.exe. Then after Roxio installs it should run the update with a SILENT option. Unfortunately that doesn??t run the full update. In my case ECDC seemed to be updated properly, but DirectCD crashed every time I tried to run it. I also noticed that when I run the install manually it extracts about 25mb of data to a temp directory, when the update runs from the Update directory it only extracts about 7-8mb of data. So obviously its not updating everything.

2. This is the preferred way of installing the full 5.3.1.154 SP4 update, "ecdc_v5.3.1.154_basic_enu_SP4.exe COMMON_SILENT DCD_SILENT ECDC_SILENT PS_SILENT ENG_SILENT" minus the quotes of cource.

Where did I got the above ??_SILENT?? stuff? I opened the ??ecdc_v5.3.1.154_basic_enu_SP4.exe?? file in notepad and searched for silent. I found a mention of DCD_SILENT and ECDC_SILENT. I then tried using them as command-line options, but it didn??t do the full install, I think it did the same as when I put the update in the update folder. I then noticed that when you run the update it creates a file called copyfile.inf in temp. I opened the file in notepad and noticed that it had bracketed headings of DCD, ECDC, PS, ENG, and COMMON. I figured that the DCD, and ECDC might be related to the DCD_SILENT and ECDC_SILENT. So I took the other bracketed headings text, added an _SILENT to the end of each and added them as command-line options as well. It worked perfectly and installed the full update completely silent and unattended.

Hope this helps

Command Line
SETUP.EXE /s /v"/qn REBOOT=FORCE REBOOTPROMPT=S"

Also note that it has been reported by some, when using the /qn or /qb switches, the application does not always detect the drive after reboot. However, the /qr switch seems to work fine.

Note

Passing the transform file on the command line did not work for me, and there are many people for whom it has not worked. Instead, downloading the Microsoft SDK and running the orca MSI editor, opening the EZCD MSI, applying the 1033.mst transform and saving as a new MSI worked dandy. Consider doing this if specifying the transform file on the command line is giving you shortcuts labeled ##NEW_STRING67##.

Note

I was unable to simply use the command line switches or anything and get it to work properly. However, I noticed that it would run fine after an admin logged in (not ran the program, just logged in). It turns out there are A LOT of registry entries created as an admin logs in. I used a txt file comparer to compare the registry of a regular user, and an admin. The registry files created are in HKLM\SOFTWARE\CLASSES, and all relate to easy cd creator. After including these registry entries, when a regular user attempts to use easy cd creator, it doesn't just crash out saying cdcreator couldn't be initialized.
