SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/31/2005 -- - Special Operations Software, a global provider of Active Directory integrated and Group Policy extension server and desktop management software, today announced a new Group Policy extension product, Specops Inventory. Specops Inventory extends the reach of Group Policy to the asset management domain. With Specops Inventory, organizations can now collect and report on both computer and user data.

Specops Inventory gives the IT Manager, System Administrator or the Software License Manager a new powerful way of controlling all assets. Special Operations Software designed Specops Inventory to fill gaps in the marketplace for this functionality. The product provides complete inventory management functions from the computer's perspective and from the user's perspective. Specops Inventory performs inventory using both the user and the computer credentials, thereby giving access to important asset and management information that is hidden from all other inventory products such as printer queues used by the end user, user mapped network drives etc.

"Asset management is one of the most important tasks in an organization. We believe that Special Operations Software is the first company in the world to offer a Group Policy extension specifically for this challenging function," said Robert Lundh, CEO of Special Operations Software. "For customers, Specops Inventory is simple to use because we have empowered Active Directory and Group Policy to do all the behind-the-scenes work. And while we pride ourselves on the ability to make our technology easy to use, we are equally as proud of the quality and depth of the product. We believe that this is the world's most powerful inventory solution because it covers all customer segments and sizes."

A key feature of Specops Inventory includes the ability to collect and report on the following information:

• Hardware

• Operating System Information

• Services and Drivers

• Software

• Security information

• Registry Data

• User Profile and Settings

• End User Interactive Queries

One of the biggest advantages of using the existing infrastructure, Active Directory and Group Policy, is that it is already implemented in most modern Windows environments. Thus no extra work has to be done in designing a new infrastructure.

Special Operations Software is showcasing Specops Inventory for the first time at the Windows Connection event in San Diego, CA, USA, October 31st - November 2nd.

Special Operations Software plans to make Specops Inventory generally available before the end of the year. The exact release date will be announced during the fourth quarter of 2005.
