Adobe Reader 8, Altiris and Vista

So, I just started a new job using Altiris Deployment server for application deployment (I used to use Zenworks).I am packaging a bunch of the more common apps for deployment.

I have packaged Adobe Reader 8.1.1 using the customization tool.
Works great to XP image, just hitting setup.exe and letting it read the customization file.

When I try and deploy it to the vista image, it says it completes, but from the log files it never does anything to the machine.
i have done the following
1. run setup.exe, both locally and from the altiris software share point- installs fine (slow, but fine)
2. Tried copying the setup locally from altiris and running a command line for msiexec (says it is running, but on Altiris console never finishes, the vista machine logs show nothing)
3. Tried deploying a different app (shockwave) to vista machine. Installs fine, shows up in the logs properly.
4. Disabled Windows firewall, windows defender, and mcaffee. Still nothing.
5. Hit Vista machine with a laptop repeatedly- still no install, but I felt a little better ;-)

I am hoping this is an ID-10-T error, and that an Altiris guru out there will set me on the golden path, or at least get me to stop talking to myself.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,
Di
