Deploying Adobe Reader 8.1.2 using Desktop Authority

I have created an MST file using MSI Studio 4.0.1 and embedded the needed cab files in the MSI to attempt an automated deployment of Adobe Reader 8.1.2 using Desktop Authority 7.7.1. I can download and start the packaged install just fine, but it will not recognize the fact that I have indicated a response transform and that I want the install to not require any interactive input.

When the package runs, it looks the same as if I had just doubled clicked on the acroread.msi and will be running the install manually.

I have both the package and the mst published in DA and the element in DA points to the msi and the mst is selected in the appropriate window. I have silent and asynchronous unchecked.

I also tried making the transform using the Adobe Customization Wizard. This seems to work if I run it using the MSI studio wizard, but not through Desktop Authority.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this behavior? I have winzip and the office 2007 compatibility pack both working, but so far no luck with Adobe.

I would check the SLTRACE.HTM file in the %TEMP% folder of one of the computers. This file is only created if you have the detailed trace log option enabled in Global Options, Troubleshooting in the Desktop Authority Manager. It may give you some information on exactly what options are being passed to MSIEXEC.

Otherwise, if the package works outside of DA, they you could always call Scriptlogic tech support and ask them or check their forums.

Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
