Error retrieving startup programs
This message shows up in our inventory page for many Windows PCs. I see there is a script which will perform some registry repair to fix this problem: "Inventory Startup Programs Fix." It is listed as an "Example Script." My problem is that I don't understand how do I get this to run?
If I tell it to deploy to all windows machines, will it just run "#attempts" times for each machine? Does the KACE keep track of how many times it has run - Does it record that it ran on Machine_A "#attempts" times and then stop running? Will it run only once if all of the verify steps pass the first time?
What if it needs to be run again, and it has already run twice or passed the first time? How do I "reset" the run counter for Machine_A?
In a related question, is there a way to limit it to run only on those machines that need it? Something like a filter of "Inventory.StartupSoftware contains "Error retrieving startup programs" or even "Inventorycontains 'Error retrieving startup programs'".

I asked on KACE.com/support and was told:
"The most efficient way to address this issue is to move these machines
into a label that you would create with a filter for the machines that are
coming up with this condition."
Absolutely. But I don't know how to create a filter which will test for this.

Could you maybe do a report on "Software.Titles"=NULL? I Don't have any machines that are affected by that, so couldn't tell you for sure if it would work :)

This is an older thread, but if you have this problem, in the latest version, you can just click on the actual error message from one of the machines, and it will list a report of all affected computers.
At that point, you could assign those to a label, and apply the script that way.
