Installing Files to C:\ with WISE Package Studio

I am trying to repackage an application that requires a file to be installed in the Root directory (C:\) I have no choice to install it elsewhere as this location is hardcoded into the application.

The setup capture works fine but when I run the MSI I have created I get "Error 1322. A portion of the system folder path " exceeds the length allowed by the system."

I am positive that it is to do with this file as it runs ok if I take it out.

I am using Wise Pacakge Studio.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Forrest;

If you had a property within your WSI to the following;

Open Install Editor and goto the Setup Editor TAB. Choose Product and right click properties and choose new Property.

Name: ROOT
Value: C:\

This should allow you to install files tothe root of C:\

Thanks and hopes this helps
Jim
