Invalid table: Directory; Could not be linked as tree.

Hi All,

Is there an easy way to work out whats wrong with the dir table with you get the error below?

DEBUG: Error 2705: Invalid table: Directory; Could not be linked as tree.

It hurts my brain to work it out by hand!

Cheers
Fuz

This error normally occurs because of an invalid directory table entry in which an entry has a Directory_Parent value that does not exist in the Directory column

there is an invalid directory entry

go to the directory table and change the directory_parent to TARGETDIR

example

Directory Directory_Parent DefaultDir

mydir TARGETDIR folderx

the directories should be highlighted in red

all you do change Directory_Parent column for that entry to TARGETDIR

That's one of the nicest features of Wise 7 - in the Directory table it takes away the brain hurt by showing you the full directory path of each entry [in a charming shade of blue] - making it dead easy to spot orphaned entries
But that doesn't help you if you don't have v7
Sorry - I'll get my coat
Regards,
Al

I get how it works. I just wish there was a quick and easy way to check the tree. ICE checks dont check this. I need a VB god to write a script or somthing :P

if your using wise the right click find error would find that issue prior to compilation.

if you like I wrote a macro a few years back which did what was has incorporated into their latest version.
