Hello ninjas,

Having a small issue currently. When we do a scripted install on a machine, it looks like after the Windows install the machine will attempt to reboot once it is done copying over files, then on the next startup give a "Windows did not shut down properly" message. This makes it so the KACE install is ended on next login skipping the rest of the tasks.

I'm not sure if I messed up the capture of the image / sysprep, or this is a setting in my K2000's scripted installation.

If in my scripted install I include to create a user, this is where the KACE is failing. It's either on the attempt to create the user, or right when the computer restarts.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Are you creating a new user with a script in the scripted install ????
You cant be doing a scripted install if you are using an image....(slightly confusing!!!)
I am more inclined to think that the error is from your sysprep.
Also, your sysprep........ did you use "sysprep creator" ?? It is usually the best way to go.
You can find this utility on the dell downloads site.....
    and here on itninja somewhere.......
  • I fixed it, I did not start the system in audit mode before using sysprep. (We're patching updates on the base windows installation per this guide: http://www.itninja.com/question/updating-k2000-source-media-for-scripted-installs
