Kodak Easyshare
Has anyone had the pleasure of packaging this app into an msi? I have been writing msis for distribution for several years and have yet to find one as hard as this one. If anyone has any experience with packaging this app, I would really appreciate any insight or suggestions. Thanks!
Justin

Hi nilo,
If you get a chance and have some doco on the construction of your msi for this app you might like to add to our database at:
http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/
This sounds like it might help a few people in the future.
Cheers,

Can you give me specific details on how you captured the installation? I capture, then complile my MSI and clean it up, then when I install it, EasyShare does not launch. It tries to repair itself, but never does.

Hi Justin,
I had packaged the app with Wise Studio(5.5). Could you be a bit more elaborate with the errors you face. I had not faced this problem of not able to launch the app. The problems I faced was with registering of dlls which we can remove easily. Another problem I faced was with 'Shortfile' names.
Please try the following, though this is not the best method -
Step 1: Install Kodak easy share (don't capture the installation now).
Step 2: Now run the capture to have an empty package i.e. an empty .wsi
Step 3: Now add the files manually to your .wsi file. I think the files are all installed in Progam Files\Kodak.
Step 4: Save and Compile and test it.
This is not the recommended practice. But I think it may solve your problem. Please let me know of the outcome.
Jim I will place the info in the forum in a day or two.
Thanks and Regards,
Nilo.
