Live Feed to PowerBI

Has anyone used PowerBI to create a live stream of data from KACE? I have multiple queries for the data I want to see, and I am now trying to figure out how to display it in PowerBI as well as getting it to update regularly.

We make extensive use of PowerBI and query the SMA. Here's an old blog post of mine that covers setting up PowerBI Desktop:

Since I wrote that I have developed some better methods, but that will get you started. One thing that isn't covered in that post is updating a report after it is published to the PowerBI service. That is possible as long as you have a data gateway available that can get to the SMA.

  • Thanks for the info, Chuck. I actually came across your blog when I was setting everything up, and it was a great help to me. Updating the report on some sort of interval is what I am mainly trying to accomplish. The report is currently static. - rruhl 3 years ago
    • Have you setup a data gateway?

      • I have not, but I think this is exactly what I'm looking for—a way to schedule a data refresh. Thank you! - rruhl 3 years ago

we use a reporting database which is updated every 10 minutes so we dont load up the KACE Database too much.
