macromedia Authorware player 7

Hi,
Has anyone out there built a package for macromedia authorware player 7? I've got a package for 6.5, but the stuff they are rolling out now is v7.

Just wondered if anyone had any problems building the msi?

cheers

Im working on a V7 package at the moment. It seems to write data to the user profile though.

Only problem I had was getting it to run as regular user. Support said "we require Power User." 'nuff said.

Any pointers on this? The package is writing data to the users profile. [sm=rolleyes.gif]

there's a lot of stuff that goes there. If you see something that doesn't belong, delete it with your wise or other toolset.

Still having problems with this, we decided to try and roll it out via IE and hit no end of problems due to people not having privledges etc etc.

So back to the MSI package, does this package definately need to have a user component? anyone managed to successfully package this?

cheers

This same issue is really frustrating me. I would gladly pay for an MSI for authorware 7... Why do these companies make their installers and products specifically difficult to deploy in a secure environment. I thought authorware was a huge education curriculum plugin. Education is an environment where you expect PCs will be locked down.

Its unusual that Macromedia don't offer an msi, as they do for flash. Im going to give this another go, I'll let you know if I have any success.... (but dont hold your breath!)

i have just packaged authorware 7 and everything seems to be ok
the file that retains settings which i needed to distribute to all users was called a7w.ini
it normally sotres it in the application data of the user profile of the installer
the work around was very simple for me
on first run the program looks for the a7w.ini file in a number of places, the program files directory, the windows directory and so on.
if you copy the ini file to the program files\authorware directory it will reference it from here instead of the user profile
im still working on the repair functionality for brand.brd, if anyone knows how to make a missing file trigger a repair im all ears

hi

i've been trying to get authorware working and not having that much luck. i got the .exe's from macromedia for enterprise deployment, the problem being that once installed it does not work and i don't really know why. I'm sure it must be related to placing files in the user's area, but I'm out of ideas and cursing the day I ever heard of Authorware. Anyone able to give me some clues?

I finally got this to work after numerous attempts. However I was not using the Macromdiea installation as there was a specific version required by some software - which the manufacturer has tweaked. I previously packaged 5 ok, but could not get 7 to work at all. So as a last resort I packaged 5 & 7 together using admin studio - and it works! [:D]
