Microsoft Active Synx 4.1 / MS SMS Server

Hi
We are deploying our applications by using Microsoft SMS. Means that the MSIs get installed on the clients in System-Context (Admin Rights). When a user starts an application the first time there gets a user-repair started, to get the MSI integrated user settings. Our normal Users are standard users without local administrative rights.

Created an AIP of MS ActiveSync

What do i have to change in the ActiveSync MSI (transform) that the following function works fine.
"Control Panel - Add/Remove Software - Active Sync - Supportinformation - "Repair""

Till now i was not able to get the problem.

thx wolf

Wot i actually did was to delete the short normally created and put the following reg key in HKLM .

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"H/PC Connection Agent"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft activeSync\\wcescomm.exe\""
and also copy "wcescomm.exe and "wsmgr.exe" to the Microsoft activesync folder under the prog files.

Wot actually happens if this is done is that the "wcescomm.exe" launches the activesync menu when a user logins. No need to make use of the short cut since the "wcescomm.exe launches the activesync automatically.

You can try this also by reconditioning the "CA_Nt5_PrimeInf" custom action in the "InstallExecuteSequnce" table, by adding "AND ( NOT REINSTALL )" to the condition. Remember to use a transform for this.

Tnx to WISEUSER

Hi Giz

Thx for all that information. I have discovered that the problem is the mentioned Custom Action, too. So i think that could be the way to solve my problem.

thx again
