Office 2007 compatibility upgrade deployment

Dear all,

I would like to deply the latest Office 2007 compatibility pack to my users. I have downloaded it from the MS website and extracted the exe

Now when I run the O12conv.msi I get an error 1638, another version is already installed, which is true.

I guess I need to deinstall first the old version before I can move on. But for this I need to know the GUID of the office 2007 comp pack.

How can I find out this?

Thank you
Edy

I could find it and it worked as you described.

Thank you!

Find the uninstall string in the registry. Start at HKLM\Software\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. Beneath that branch will be a heap of GUIDs (and other, plain-text entries). In one of those GUID branches will be an entry with a 'DisplayName' entry matching the text you see for the Toolkit in Add/Remove Programs. Once you've found that, lower down that set of entries will be an entry 'UninstallString'. Copy that to the clipboard and run it from the command line.

BTW, if you're being told that it's already installed, why uninstall it?
