Office 365 Patching

I am trying to patch our Office 365 using KACE since it is now supported. Everything seems to go fine until the exe task gets to the computer. Then it just hangs and doesn't do anything until it times out. I have the updates in office set to false. It detects the updates that are needed fine just doesn't install them.

  • I am still having a problem with this. does anyone have any insight?
  • If you have updating disabled for your Office 365 installs, you could use the following to enable them:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe” /changesetting Channel=Monthly

    Then run this to run the updates:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe” /update user forceappshutdown=true displaylevel=false

    Since this will force office apps to close I would run it at night. I also use the prompting options in the script to prompt the user to save their work with 5 minutes.
    • I am trying to do the processes through KACE patching. It detects the patches that need to be installed and the scheduled patch exe gets to the computer but then times out after the hour time out.
      • We are actively seeing other customers with similar O365 patching issues, so I would suggest you Think about logging this one with support and see what they say
