Putting static routes in the Kbox

Pardon the second question in short order.

The corporate office where the Kbox resides has a gateway router that we do not have access to. Don't ask me why they let that happen. On installation they put static routes for the other subnets on the VPN, to turn packets back to the Cisco VPN router in case they themselves don't have static routes. So the Kbox hits those other subnets just fine without needing to know the routing. Though of course with large transmissions there is a loop when the gateway router examines the packets, turns them around into the VPN tunnel, then processes them a second time as they're sent out via the VPN --- so static routes for all the subnets in the Kbox itself would make for less traffic.

And I work mostly from home and have my PC's on another subnet, also on the VPN. And the gateway router does not have, and we cannot add, a static route to my subnet. So my only option is to RDP into one of the local servers and then access the Kbox. It would make things easier if I could access the Kbox directly.

One of the tech folks told me that an upgrade to the Kbox OS is going to allow static routes. Is that true, and if so, when is that going to happen?

Thanks again,

Bob W

Hi Bob,

The next release should have an option to add static routes.

You don't have to wait until the next release, if you file a support ticket and list the static routes you would like added to the KBOX, we can do this for you.

The next release is going to be 5.2 and will be due out shortly. Our best guess is a week or so but if you open a ticket you'll get more accurate notification on the new release.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
