regopenkeyex(docobject) Access is Denied
I have an image viewer MSI called Onstream Trapeze, it installs with no problem and runs as an un-managed user.
The problem I have is that when a managed user runs it for the first time (ie before an un-managed user) the error 'Access is Denied regopenkeyex(docobject) failed' appears. I think this is to do with file associations and although I have created a first run MST and given rights to lots of the registry in an attempt to find specific keys that will enable access I still cannot get around this.
Has anyone seen this or a similar problem?
Thanks
Ozric

Download regmon from SysInternals. log in as a restricted user and use
runas /noprofile /user:<YOURLOCALADMINACCOUNT> regmon.exe
Then set the filter to look for access denied registry events and start your app. When you find the keys that need permissions set those in your .MST
