Serial Numbr in a msi

Hi All,

I ave a small question. I have a vendor msi. But after installing the app and launching it, it asks for serial number. Is there any option to supply serial number in cmdline for vendor msi. If there is none, can anyone please tell the alternative

Here is how I am able to do. After I install/ launch the application, it asked me to enter the license. I entered it. I opened program files and am looking for which file it is making a change to as I install the key. It created a app.lic key. So finally I copied it to the same location of the source file. Then in mst I copied it to the program files\path where it was saving. So I ran it with normal msiexec /i msi transforms=mst /qb!

done, it never asks for license and launching the app.

If the serial is NOT asked DURING installation , then you need to find out where the serial is being placed ( and hopefully not encrypted) . You can try be repackaging the moment after installation and entering the serial?

If the serial is placed in the registry, ini, or other conf. file , you will notice in your capture.
please be aware that you might encounter a more complex way of securing serials.. in that case I would contact the vendor and ask if they have an "enterprise" license or installer for distributing to many machines... ( most "smart" vendors have something like that...)
