Silent Install Question
I've recently been assigned to setup and administer our installation of Diskeeper Corp's SiteKeeper. In conjunction with this, I'm creating the msi packages to install various apps via Sitekeeper app deployment. My problem is this: After creating a customized install package of McAfee VirusScanEnterprise8i, and doing a silent upgrade, using the MSI /qn switch on the setup.exe, on a machine with the previous version of VSE, I get, despite the /qn switch, one of the WinXP unsigned driver warnings, which if you click on continue, the upgrade finishes with a successful upgrade. Since this would be intended for an unattended install via Sitekeeper, this warning is not desired. I was under the impression that a silent install was SILENT.. The reason I'm posting this here, is because I've asked this same question three times on the forums.mcafeehelp.com forums, and gotten zero response. Since McAfee is such a popular AV product, I'm hoping someone here can guide me thru this minefield.

Hi Dave
I've come across this as well. Amazingly, this unsigned driver warning message only appears if you try to install the .msi directly.
So our Consultant recommended to build a customized package with the McAfee Installation Designer. With that method you get lots of files and an .exe file to start the installation and now no more driver warnings show up.
After this we've had a problem that some of the updgraded McAfee installations (from 7.1 to 8.0i) didn't update the virus signatures automatically anymore. For this issue there's a Framework Patch from McAfee available.
Good luck

Interesting.. I see the unsigned warning msg when I run the setup.exe created by the Install Designer, with the /qn switch. In fact, In the mess of files the designer provides, there isn't even an .msi file. For testing, I run the vse8 setup.exe /qn on a machine which currently has vse7, I get the unsigned warning.. Any ideas??
Thanks
