Successfully Advertise Adobe Reader 7.0.7
Hey guys, I'm hoping I can get a bit of guidance from you all. Please be gentle mind, seeing as this is my first post I'm new to packaging [:)]
As the subject suggests I'm currently having difficulty in getting Adobe Reader (v7.0.7) to advertise and then install with full functionality (alot to ask I know !).
I've extracted the Vendor MSI and have used the Install Tuner to create a Transform to clean out all the muck we don't want. After having done that I have a fully functioning Adobe Reader, to our specifications, that I can perform a full installation with. When installed, the Internet Preference 'Display PDF in browser' is ticked by default, and I have a list of 19 Preference Categories down the left hand side of the Preference window. That would be ace if I could get it to advertise...
I popped open the original MSI and noticed that the majority of the Features were set to disallow advertise through their attributes. I modified the ReaderProgramFiles Feature attribute to 4 so that it would Favour Advertise and gave it another bash, and I was pleased to see that it would now let me advertise the app.
I ran through my advertised installation and went into the preferences menu to check that all my original modifications were in place. This is where I started to get a little confused. On the left hand side of the Preferences window I was now restricted to only having 12 Preferences instead of my original 19 ?! No major problem I thought, as long as all my settings had been retained, which they had - apart from one. The 'Display PDF in browser' setting was unticked. If I tick this setting, come out of the Preferences and go back in, the option remains unticked ?! I can alter any setting I like within the preferences and it retains the change, apart from this one ! The most important one to me...
So, thats where I am so far. I've tried the odd tweak here and there without success and so thought I would throw it open to you guys.
Cheers for looking !

How did things turn out? Curious, were you able to manually change any of the states ( make some of the hidden preferences viewable/editable again?) I am specifically interested in the pdf in browser preference, - did you find a manual way for editing this, enabling/disabling, selecting/deselecting.
Thanks,
J.
